<description>Modelling of some Degradation Processes by Corrosion Fatigue of Metallic Surfaces
Băicean, Svetlana; Buciumeanu, Mihaela; Palaghian, Liviu
Based on the well known fatigue corrosion effects, the mechanical stress and the corrosive environment have a significant effect on the prediction of the lifespan of the equipments that work in corrosive environment, two models are proposed. The first model is dedicated to the evolution of the pits volume that occurs on the specimen surface, while the second one is dedicated to the electrode potential evolution of the material. It was observed a good correlation between the experimental and the predicted results.

<description>Experimental Determination of Contact Area Between a Sphere and a Circular Plate Using a Technique Based on Laser Profilometry
Trandafir, Marius; Ciornei, Maria; Diaconescu, Emanuel
This paper presents the experimental determination of contact area between a steel sphere and a sapphire circular plate, using a technique based on laser profilometry. The reflectivity value is smaller inside contact area than outside, modern laser profilometers can measure surface reflectivity and thus, it can offer information regarding the contact area. In order to investigate the thickness effect on the contact area, the contact is modelled in two situations, using two circular plates with different thicknesses.

<title>Analysis of the PM Bearing – Spindle Contact Using Finite Element Method</title>

<description>Analysis of the PM Bearing – Spindle Contact Using Finite Element Method
Teișanu, Cristina; Dumitru, Nicolae; Gheorghe, Ștefan
Using PM (Powder Metallurgy) technologies, new antifriction materials based on iron-copper powders with different addition elements were developed. The elemental powder mixtures were compacted at different pressures and sintered in a dry hydrogen atmosphere at different temperatures. The tribological features of the selected iron-copper based material have been studied using an experimental device for wear testing of the sliding bearings. The friction coefficient and the wear resistance have been analyzed in dry friction conditions. Considering the PM iron based bearing bush isolated from the spindle and loaded with variable friction forces a dynamic study was performed using the finite element method. The equivalent Von Mises stresses distribution and the elastic deformations’ distribution were determined.

<title>Ecological Lubricants Based on Vegetal Oils</title>
<link>http://arthra.ugal.ro/handle/20.500.14043/25416</link>
<description>Ecological Lubricants Based on Vegetal Oils
Ștefănescu, Ioan; Șolea, Liviu; Chiriță, George
Recently, there is an ecologically justified tendency to use lubricants based on vegetal oils and synthetic fluids, both ones reducing the application field of mineral oils. Biodegradable lubricants will be more used in environment with ecological risk, as for instance, for the equipment functioning in hygroscopic protected medium, in agriculture, food and wood industry, as well as for those with potential lubricant leakage. The success of the vegetal oils is related to their biodegradability and reduced toxicity, but a wider use is limited by their insufficient stability in time. The biodegradable oils have ecological advantages, being comparable or better than the mineral ones.
