<title>Humidity Determination in Concrete by Using the Dielectric Method</title>

<description>Humidity Determination in Concrete by Using the Dielectric Method
Ionescu, Ștefania
The presence of humidity in the building envelope elements decays their&#13;
structural and technological properties, favours heat losses and, in time,&#13;
also the deterioration and degradation of the building.&#13;
In order to avoid of these aspects it is necessary to know and to mantain&#13;
under control the level of humidity at the construction materials, in the&#13;
process of making as well as during their exploitation; it is also necessary&#13;
to be familiar with the transport phenomena of the humidity in the&#13;
respective materialş, thirdly it is also obligatory to monitor the spacetemporary&#13;
movement of the humidity front.&#13;
This article analyses an electric-dielectric method, which besides the fact&#13;
that it shows, measures and monitorises the level of humidity in the&#13;
construction elements, also helps to appreciate the efficiency of some&#13;
surface protection systems in concordance with the german guide&#13;
regarding the protection and repairing of the concrete elements.

<title>Optimazation of Ultrasonic Flow Meters for Crude Oil Metering and Export</title>
<link>http://arthra.ugal.ro/handle/20.500.14043/24725</link>
<description>Optimazation of Ultrasonic Flow Meters for Crude Oil Metering and Export
Yeboah, Kuma; Nedelcuț, Florin
Ultrasonic flow meters, as all velocity or inference type devices, require&#13;
an adequate flow stream conditioning in order to assure an accurate&#13;
performance. Typical flow conditioning consists of straightening the&#13;
upstream and downstream of the measuring section. The upstream section&#13;
usually contains a tube bundle, which allows the upstream section to be&#13;
reduced in length. This tube bundle serves to eliminate any swirl in the&#13;
flow stream before reaching the meter, presenting a symmetrical velocity&#13;
profile to the turbine rotor. Some ultrasonic flow meters may produce a&#13;
non-uniform pulse output, which can prove a wide span of repeatability.&#13;
For such cases where is a need to correct the velocity flow profiles which&#13;
affect the robustness of the integration method, this research work tries to&#13;
develop a mathematical modeling and simulation in MATLAB and&#13;
Microsoft Excel, with the purpose to combine the individual acoustic path&#13;
measurements into a full volumetric flow rate measurement procedure. The&#13;
relationship between velocity and viscosity, using Reynolds Number, was&#13;
calculated in Microsoft Excel. The Nusselt Number was then used to plot&#13;
fluid mean temperature and wall temperature diagrams in Microsoft Excel.

<title>Energy Dissipation Device Using Fluid Dampers</title>
<link>http://arthra.ugal.ro/handle/20.500.14043/24724</link>
<description>Energy Dissipation Device Using Fluid Dampers
Șcheaua, Fănel; Nedelcuț, Florin
This scientific paper presents a solution that is adequate for the seismic&#13;
isolation of small and medium size buildings and bridges. Comprising two&#13;
seismic isolating devices, the described arrangement is suitable for&#13;
dissipating an increased level of energy induced to infrastructure by the&#13;
seism. As other hybrid arrangements, this one uses viscous dampers in&#13;
order to limit the distance of induced movement of the infrastructure. The&#13;
internal design of the fluid damper is analyzed using CFD software, to&#13;
ensure a proper dissipation of the seismic action and to limit its&#13;
destructive effects.

<title>Influence of structure Mass on the Behavior of Seismic Energy Hidraulic Dissipation Devices</title>
<link>http://arthra.ugal.ro/handle/20.500.14043/24723</link>
<description>Influence of structure Mass on the Behavior of Seismic Energy Hidraulic Dissipation Devices
Șcheaua, Fănel; Gavril, Axinti
Since many solutions exist today in the field of structure isolation against&#13;
the destructive action of earthquakes, the authors present a simple solution&#13;
that can provide complete protection against shock and vibration both as a&#13;
result of road traffic and seismic actions. The proposed solution is&#13;
represented by hydraulic energy dissipation device, as a passive system for&#13;
structural isolation. Based on a case study, is highlighted the evolution of&#13;
involved parameters in device operation according to isolated structure&#13;
mass.
