<title>Simulation of an Economic Policy on Second Life Using a Conjunctural Analysis Approach</title>

<description>Simulation of an Economic Policy on Second Life Using a Conjunctural Analysis Approach
Janvier, Yrina
This paper intends to define an economic policy that does not&#13;
compromise the coordination between the 4 main sectors of an economy: the real&#13;
sector, the public sector, the exterior sector and the monetary sector. The subject is&#13;
Second Life (SL) a totally virtual world that is starting to occupy a great economic&#13;
place especially with e-commerce. For doing so, some data are arbitrarily chosen as&#13;
done and projections are made from them. Data are expressed in billion of Linden&#13;
dollars.

<title>Availability Analysis and Improvement of Software Rejuvenation Using Virtualization</title>

<description>Availability Analysis and Improvement of Software Rejuvenation Using Virtualization
Thein, Thandar; Do CHI, Sung; Park, Jong Sou
Availability of business-critical application servers is an issue of&#13;
paramount importance that has received special attention from the industry and&#13;
academia. To improve the availability of application servers, we have conducted a&#13;
study of virtualization technology and software rejuvenation that follows a&#13;
proactive fault-tolerant approach to counter act the software aging problem. We&#13;
present Markov models for analyzing availability in such continuously running&#13;
applications and express availability, downtime and downtime costs during&#13;
rejuvenation in terms of the parameters in the models. Our results show that our&#13;
approach is a practical way to ensure uninterrupted availability and optimize&#13;
performance for even strongly aging applications.

<title>Innovation Seeking Strategy of IT Outsourcing on e-Europe</title>

<description>Innovation Seeking Strategy of IT Outsourcing on e-Europe
Căpățînă, Alexandru; Bleoju, Gianita; Nistor, Rozalia
In this paper, we emphasize the opportunities concerning the&#13;
implementation of an intelligence receptive organizational culture, that allows the&#13;
fast and flexible response of companies’ strategies in the competitive e-business.&#13;
Due to the promotion of an an intelligence receptive culture, e-Europe software&#13;
companies start to see the Romanian IT firms as extremely attractive targets for&#13;
outsourcing projects that suppose not only NOT the creation of specialized&#13;
software, but also the overtaking of maintenance or suppoert services. The creation&#13;
of a website designed to facilitate the outsourcing projects will assure the increase&#13;
of the Romanian IT companies’ visibility in e-Europe

<title>Revisiting the Competitiveness of Romanian Manufacturing Industry</title>
<link>http://arthra.ugal.ro/handle/20.500.14043/26361</link>
<description>Revisiting the Competitiveness of Romanian Manufacturing Industry
Rujan, Ovidiu; Gârdu, Dana
Since the early 1990s the Romanian manufacturing industry has improved in&#13;
many ways. This headway concerns the labour-intensive sector rather than the&#13;
technology-intensive one. Apart from local entrepreneurship, foreign direct&#13;
investments (FDI) have been instrumental in enhancing industrial competitiveness. The&#13;
Lisbon Agenda revival and Romania’s EU accession will be further inducements for&#13;
Western businesses to shift production here to fight back both low-cost producers&#13;
(typically from emerging Asia) and more quality-oriented producers (typically from&#13;
OECD countries). Hopefully, the FDI spillover effects will send positive vibrations&#13;
across the economy, and tone down the asymmetry at the core of the manufacturing&#13;
industry
